and up a notch tonight, in order, to secure a win in their season opener.
That's right folks, the NBL Canada season is upon us again and the Moncton
Miracles are ready to host the Saint John Mill Rats tonight at the Moncton
Coliseum, tip-off is 7 p.m.
The Miracles finished 7th last year in the NBL Canada
standings and need to come on strong, get control of the ball, score the
baskets, and play a strong third
quarter. Defense and securing scoring opportunities are a must for the
Miracles.
Miracle fans will see the start tonight of former forward of the Island
Storm, Dwayne Smith. The NBL All-Star, George Washington University graduate,
was a significant contributor to the helping the Storm make it to the NBL
finals.
With a new coach, new players, and a new season, this is the year for
the Miracles to finish first.
London Lightning vs. Windsor Express
A night of the champions in true Canada style, London Lightning is ready
to take on last year's defending Champs, the Windsor Express. The Lightning
were successful in their preseason opener with a 108-92 win over the
Mississauga Power.
Express will be looking to start the season with a win after losing
against the Mississauga Power in preseason action 108-102. Without Stefan
Bonneau, the Express will really have to step it up and bring on the scoring,
the Express traded Bonneau to the Lightning in exchange for Tony Bennett.
Bonneau has not signed with the Lightning and is hoping for an opportunity to
play in the NBA-D league.
While, the Lightning maybe be missing one of their leading scorers Tony
Bennett who averaged 14.6 point per game, the Lightning still have two
powerhouse forwards: Marvin Phillips and Elvin Mims.
In addition, to this, Lightning fans will see Al Stewart wearing a
different colored jersey this year, as the 5'10 point guard was added to the Lightning roster back in October. The twice named Defensive Player of the Year,
played the last three season for the Island Storm.
Tonight’s game tip-off is 7
p.m. at the Budweiser Gardens.
Brampton A's vs. Mississauga Power
Winning Franchise Expansion of the Year, the Brampton A's will be
looking to start the season off on a win. After, pushing the London Lightning
to a game five in the 2013-14 playoffs, the A's have a lot to prove.
Confidence is key in tonight's match-up as both teams are coming off big
preseason wins. The A's defeated the USA All Star's 160-120 and the Power
ruffled the feathers of the defending champs, Windsor Express 108-102.
The Power need a turn around this year after finishing last in the
standings in the league. With point guards, such as, Jordan Weidner and
Tut Ruach, the Power could be on their way to a successful year.
The A's need a strong defensive side and consistency when it comes to
stealing the ball and creating those extra possessions.
Tip-off time is 7 p.m. at the Powerade Centre in Brampton.
