January 24th- Game Day Recap

Saint John vs Moncton

What a night for the Saint John Mill Rats.  Not only have they won their 5th straight game, but they did so in a truly dominant way.  The Mill Rats dominated their way to an astounding 147-99 win.  A whopping 48 point victory!

Saint John got out fast and furiously as they jumped out on the Miracles early and never looked back.  After a 30-19 first quarter lead, the Mill Rats kept their foot on the gas and continued the pace to a 65-47 half time lead.

The third quarter was no better for the Miracles as they allowed Saint John to score 43 points in the first 12 minutes of the second half.  Moncton would find somewhat of an offensive touch in the 4th, scoring 31 points, but defensively would again allow the Mill Rats to score 39 points.

A balanced offensive effort saw 7 players scored in double digits for the Mill Rats tonight, lead by Johnny Mayhane's 25 points on 9-14 shooting.  Raheem Singleton and Kenny Jones both added 18 points in the winning effort.  Backup point guard Alex "Superman" Johnson had a double double off the bench with 13 points and a game high 15 assists.  Tyrone Levett (17), Keith Cothran had 15 in his first game for the Mill Rats.  Darin Mency scored 10 points for the winning team to round out the scoring.

Despite the rough game, Tramar Sutherland had a hot hand scoring 22 points off the bench Trayvon Lathan and Daquan Brooks added 14 a peice.  Dwayne Smith added 13 off the bench and Stanley Robinson  scored 10 points.

The Mill Rats are now 1 game below .500 with a 12-13 record while the Miracles fall to a league worst 6-16 record.

Mississauga vs Windsor

Windsor wins another one as they defeat the Missisauga Power to the score of 106-96.  Despite being down several starters (Gibson, Bennett, Collins) the Express managed to overcome a hot Power start and pull away in the second for the victory.

The home crowd was treated to an exciting game as their Power team went back in forth with the leagues best team.  Missisauga would take a 4 point lead after one and keep it close with the defending champs, and we're only down 51-49 at half.
The second half started pour for Missisauga as Windsor showed off their league best defense and held Missisauga to 4 points in the first 6 minutes of action, and a total of 15 points in the quarter.  Mississauga rallied in the fourth but came up short, despite outscoring the Express 32-29.  Too little too late as they succumbed to the Express by 10 points.

Shooting guard Ryan Anderson had a nice night, he lead the Express and the game with 27 points and 10 rebounds.  Quinell Brown was his usual self, scoring 25 points on the Power. Kevin Loiselle (18), DeAndre Thomas (15) and Kirk Williams Jr. (10) all put in double digit scoring efforts in the win.  Josh Collins had a game high 10 assists for his Windsor Express.

Once again Warren Ward lead his team in scoring with 24 points.  Travis Releford scored 19 points and had a double double with 11 rebounds, he even saw time at the center position when the Power went small.  Rookie Jordan Weidner scored 14 points off the bench while Omar Strong(11) struggled again with his shot.
