Windsor Express vs. Saint John Mill Rats
A strong fourth quarter, saw the Saint John Mill Rats push through a 29 point deficit, but it was not enough to bump the Windsor Express of the tracks, as the Express came away with a 124-112 win and making it ten wins at home.
DeAndre Thomas, Tony Bennett, and Quinnel Brown all hit over the twenty point mark on the night, Thomas led the way with 26 points and pulling down 9 rebounds. Bennett followed close behind with 23 points, 3 rebounds, and added an impressive 9 assists. Brown added his 24 points on the night, to go along with 8 rebounds and 5 assists.
The Express improve to 13-4 record on the season, holding the top spot in the Central Division. The Express's next game is Tuesday, January 13th, when they travel to the Powerade Centre to take on the Brampton A's. Tip-off time is 7 p.m.
Anthony Anderson and Kenny Jones were the leading scorers for the Mill Rats. Anderson topped the night with 28 points, 6 rebounds, and 5 assists, while Jones put up 24 points and 6 rebounds.
Darin Mency notched 16 points off the bench and Johnny Mayhane added 13 points on the night.
Saint John's record falls to 7-13 on the season, the Mill Rats continue their Ontario road trip and look to take at least one game, as they head to the Budweiser Gardens to take on the London Lightning tomorrow afternoon. Tip-off time is 2 p.m.
Despite a horrible shooting night from Missisauga they fought back furiously in the third behind news addition, Canadian big man Chad Posthumus. Missisauga outscored the Miracles 30- 16 and would take a 67-55 lead.
The Power would continue to hold off several Moncton runs and stay in control for much of the fourth. Enter the Trayvon and Shawn with their team down by 7 points with under 6 minutes left in the fourth, Trayvon Lathan and Shawn Vanzant would explode offensively and get their team back up 91-90. After several turnovers and one-and-done plays from Missisauga, the Power would be forced to foul and put Moncton on the line. Moncton would hold out and end up winning 100-94.
Trayvon Lathan lead his Miracles squad with a team high 26 points, and also posted 7 rebounds and a game high 4 steals. Moncton guard Shawn Vanzanthad 20 points while shooting a red hot 77% from the field and also hit a key three to help seal the Moncton win. Atkinson lead his team in rebounding with a double-double of 15 and 15. Troy Brewer and Dwayne Smith each had 10 to round out the scoring for Moncton.

One of two new players for thePower, the Canadian big man had an impressive 34 point and 22 rebound effort in his debut in the National Basketball League of Canada. Marcus Capers also had a dominate outing with 18 points and 18 rebounds. Missisauga's other new player, Warren Ward had 17 points with 9 rebounds. The Power as a whole shot a horrendous 40-110 (36.4%) and 4-45 (8.9) from three.
Omar Strong especially had a rough night, only hitting 1 of his 17 threes and a total of 1 of his 19 total shots. Moncton jumps to 6-11, while Mississauga falls to 5-11 on their respective seasons.
London Lightning vs. Halifax Rainmen
The Rainmen's three game losing streak game to a halt, as they pulled out an overtime victory, 111-107 over the London Lightning, Saturday evening, making their Ontario road trip 1-1, moving their record to 8-9 in the Atlantic Division.
Seiya Ando led the Rainmen in points, putting up 20 on the night, Forrest Fisher had 18 points, hitting 75% from the free throw line. Joey Haywood pitched in his 17 points from off the bench and Tyrone Watson had a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds.
The Rainmen's next game is back in the Atlantic, against the Island Storm, Thursday, January 15th at the Eastlink Centre. Tip-off time is 7 p.m.
Marvin Phillips led the Lightning with 25 points and Emmanuel Little who added a double-double with 24 points and 10 rebounds to finish out the night.
London's next game is tomorrow afternoon, as they host the Saint John Mill Rats. Tip-off is 2 p.m.
January 10th Moncton vs Mississauga
In a battle of the leagues two lowest teams, the Moncton Miracles came away with an exciting 100-94 win. The game saw a back-and-forth affair in the first quarter as Moncton took a small 23-22 lead. The second saw Moncton pull away as they held Missisauga to only 14 points in the second, while scoring 27 of their own. Moncton looked to be in control with a 49-37 lead entering the half time break.
