Windsor Express Head Coach Bill Jones is back doing what he loves following a 20-game suspension issued by the NBLC.
"Basketball is my passion," says Jones. "To be able to coach, inspire and mentor young men is something I believe I was put on this earth to do. I'm glad to have that opportunity again."
Following an appeal, NBLC officials decided 20 games was enough for the three-year Express coach. In their official release, the league cites Jones’ impact on the franchise, and the severity of the initial suspension, as reasons to cut the year-long ban short. Jones was initially suspended last year, after an incident involving the Express and the Halifax Rainmen prior to Game 7 of the NBLC finals.
Jones explains he's ready to move past that incident, and look forward to the second half of the season.
"You have to be accountable for your actions, and I did play a role in what happened. I did everything the league required me to do, I held my other title and just hoped this day would come."
Bill also thanked his brother Tony for manning the ship while he served his suspension. Jones returns to a 10-10 Express team that will take on the London Lightning Saturday at 7:30pm.
