Gameday -- March 17, 2016

Saint John 110-107 at Island

Gabe Freeman's clutch play lifted Saint John past the Island Storm 110-107 in Charlottetown on Thursday.

After sitting tied 88-88 with eight minutes to go in the game, the Mill Rats went on a seven-point run in just over a minute. However, the Storm battled back, bringing the game to 108-107 after Tirrell Bains went 1-2 from the line. A final tip-in from Freeman was all that the Mill Rats needed, giving them their 16th win on the season.

Freeman went off for the Mill Rats, putting up 36pts (on 14-19 shooting) and eight rebounds. Malcolm Grant led the Storm with 20 points. Tirrell Baines put up the only double-double in the game, notching 19pts and 13rebs.

Saint John (16-10) will begin a two-game Ontario road trip on Saturday in Orangeville. The Storm (10-17) will host Moncton on Sunday.
