The Express, who kept Niagara to a dismal 38% shooting, played effective defense all night long, out-rebounding the River Lions 52-42 on their way to a 1-0 series lead.
Brandon Robinson led the Express and the game with 27 points and 10 rebounds. Sammy Zeglinski put in 25 points in a losing effort.
