Gameday -- January 9th, 2015

Brampton A's vs. Halifax Rainmen

It will be a battle of National Basketball League of Canada's two mid-table teams on Friday, as the Halifax Rainmen head west to take on the Brampton A's.

The Rainmen (7-8) and A's (8-10) both sit a game below .500 while having the league's fourth and fifth best records.

Halifax, who are on a three game losing skid, are the last Atlantic Division team to take a road trip to Ontario this season. As most inter-division road trips go, the Rainmen will play two games this weekend before heading back home (they play London on Saturday). It will prove to be a long January for the Rainmen, who play 10 games in a month - including another road trip to Ontario in two weeks.

The A's are coming off of
a 104-90 loss in Windsor on Thursday. While Windsor are the league's best defensive team by a mile (99oppg), Halifax are the second-best defence, only allowing 105ppg. Brampton will be looking towards their big scorers in Cavell Johnson (16ppg), Brent Jennings (has lead the team in scoring in five of the past seven games) and newcomer Akeem Ellis to break the Rainmen. The A's will be without stand-out Canadian Richard Amardi, who was suspended indefinitely by the team for "conduct unbecoming to the team".
